Meet Dr. Giaccone Cullen
Dr. Galen was born and raised in Dover, Delaware. After graduating from Dover High School in 2006, she ventured above the canal to attend the University of Delaware. While science dominated her undergraduate career, her love of piano led her to continue studying under the critically acclaimed pianist Christine Delbeau. In those first years of college, Dr. Galen was introduced to the Miss America Organization, the leading scholarship provider for young women in the U.S. With a platform advocating oral health, Dr. Galen was named Miss Delaware in 2008. She took a leave of absence from UD and began her year of service. Among her most memorable experiences that year, Dr. Galen competed in the 2009 Miss America pageant in Las Vegas. She received a Preliminary Talent Award for her piano performance and placed as a Top 15 Semi-Finalist.
Upon completing her year as Miss Delaware, Dr. Galen returned to UD, later receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences. She obtained her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. She was selected for membership into the distinguished Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society. She graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2015.
After four years in Baltimore, she returned to Delaware to complete her General Practice Residency at Christiana Care. There, she received advanced training in general and implant dentistry, management of the medically complex, and interdisciplinary management of head and neck cancer patients. Upon graduating from the residency program, Dr. Galen joined the Mercer Sydell team. She is an avid learner and attends the world-renowned Kois Center, an evidence-based continuing education curriculum. She pursues additional restorative and esthetic training through imP.R.E.S. courses while holding memberships in the Delaware State Dental Society, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Academy of General Dentistry, and American Dental Association.
No stranger to serving her community, Dr. Galen has been involved in various organizations, including the Miss Delaware Organization, NextGen South of the Delaware Community Foundation, and Give Kids A Smile.
In 2022, Dr. Galen and her husband, James, welcomed their son, Jamin. While chasing a toddler consumes most of her free time, Dr. Galen also enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing piano, baking, and traveling.
