T. Andrew Mercer, DMD (Andy)

Meet Dr. Mercer
Dr. Andy Mercer has been practicing dentistry for 15 years in Delaware. Raised in Dover, DE, he graduated from Dover High School (1985-1989) and attended college Clemson University (1989-1993) where he received a BS in Microbiology. After college, he headed to Charleston, SC where he received a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the Medical University of South Carolina (1993-1997). In 1998 he completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency in the United States Navy in San Diego, CA and was later stationed with the Marines at 29 Palms, CA from 1998-2001.
In July of 2001, Dr. Andy Mercer joined Dr. Thomas W. Mercer, in Dover, Delaware and formed what is now Mercer Dental Associates. Even after entering private practice, Dr. Andy Mercer’s education continued at the Dawson Center and Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Study. His proudest professional achievement was Graduating from the Kois Center for Advanced Clinical Education(hyper link to Kois info on website)in Seattle, WA in 2015. The Kois Center teaches research based and science driven techniques to predictably treat patients. He is currently an Examiner for the Delaware Board of Dentistry and Dental Hygiene.
He has previously been a Medicaid Advisory Committee member and Kent County Representative for the Legislative Council. He has been a volunteer for “Give Kids a Smile” and a dental missionary to Guatemala representing local churches and Hands of Hope International. He has also previously been named one of Delaware’s Top Dentists by Delaware Today Magazine.

He and his wife Cathy and just celebrated their 19th year of marriage and have 3 beautiful children. Emma is 17, Ruby is 16 and Jake is 13. He enjoys working out, traveling with his family and following his beloved Clemson Tiger Football Team.
